This wine opens with black cherry, wet stone, fresh cranberry and hibiscus. Tight, chalky, red fruit on the palate is supported by a persistent streak of acidity and firm tannins. This cool-vintage Moulin-à-Vent would pair well with sautéed meats and vegetables dishes that crave a wine partner with acidity and depth.
One of the single-vineyard wines from this producer, this bottling has power and density. Its richness is without question, needing time to soften.
Stunning nose of violets and amarena cherry! Ripe and concentrated with plenty of fine tannins and an acidity that’s extremely elegant for the 2021 vintage. Very long finish with stacks of wet stone and licorice character, plus a touch of vanilla. Excellent aging potential
This dark red colored wine from the Moulin-a-Vent commune opens with a cherry and pomegranate bouquet with hints of violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and fresh. The flavor profile is a pomegranate, loam, and juicy strawberry blend with notes of red currant. I also detected hints of red licorice and black pepper. The finish is dry and very refreshing due to its bright acidity.
Opening in the glass with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, vine smoke, spices and orange rind, the 2020 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin is medium to full-bodied, ample and lively, with powdery tannins, bright acids and a refined, elegant profile that belies the inherent power of the vintage, concluding with a long finish.
